Strengthening MSMEs in Tiruppur
Tiruppur is one of India’s largest export-oriented textile and garment clusters, with nearly 20,000 textile and garment units, of which around 90% produce for export markets. While a few firms receive direct orders from global brands, a large part of the production ecosystem operates through layers of subcontracting to smaller MSME units.

Social Compact, in partnership with Bridgepoint, recently visited Tiruppur, to understand key opportunities and challenges from the perspective of MSMEs and workers as well as gauge the need and appetite for cluster- level interventions.

The purpose of the visit and the workshop with MSMEs was to explore how the Tiruppur ecosystem can leverage the sector’s growing demand into a win–win equation for business and workers alike.
